How Can severe Ankle Pain Be Treated?

a week and a half ago, I step off a curb and turned my ankle over. It was very painful. Then a few days later, I heard a popping sound in my foot and my ankle felt better. I can walk okay, but occasionally have a pain that shoots through my ankle and causes difficulty walking. If I stand for any period of time with more weight on that foot, I have a rush of pain in the ankle. I am a women, 57 with a high tolerance for pain... should I have my ankle x-rayed??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The accident had turned over the ankle... which might have cause muscular sprain/tendon injury/boney injury.

To know the overall affection of the joint & surrounding tissues you need to get MRI of the ankle/foot done as per advised by an orthopedic surgeon after examining you in detail... followed by cause-specific treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
